Florida football is heading into the spring with a completely new look. Which storylines should we be following over the next couple of months?

A year ago, fans were questioning the coaching staff around Dan Mullen, but Florida football was fresh off an SEC title game berth and the program seemed to be trending in the right direction.

But things have changed quickly.

Florida finished the 2021 season with a 6-7 record and Mullen was let go and the Gators went out and hired one of the hottest names on the market in Billy Napier. The move was a home run in the coaching carousel world and it showed that Florida is serious about winning now.

With spring ball starting up, it’s time to take a glance at the new-look Gators. What storylines should we be following?

3. Infusion of new staff and its impact on the Gators

I’m going to be interested to see what the new-look staff has to offer. How will Billy Napier run the program compared to Dan Mullen?

Plus, the entire staff has a lot to prove. Will the defense be improved under co-defensive coordinators Patrick Toney and Sean Spencer? They’ll have plenty of talent to work with and it can’t be much worse than the end of the Todd Grantham era. Will two minds be better than one? It feels like there’s going to be improvement there, but we need to see it.

Offensively, will Rob Sale fix the quarterback issues and develop a solid run game?

There are plenty of question marks that we need to see the staff address this spring and I think we’ll get a good feel of the direction of the program pretty quickly.
