5. Florida State Seminoles

My decision to add Florida State to this list hinges on the quarterback position. The Seminoles are losing Chubba Purdy to the transfer portal and McKenzie Milton to graduation which means that Jordan Travis needs to take that next step. He did improve drastically last season, passing for over 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns with six picks and a 63 percent completion rate which is encouraging.

The ACC is wide open heading into the 2022 season with Clemson and Wake Forest as the likely leaders for the title, but Florida State shouldn’t be counted out.

Mike Norvell is just 8-13 over his first two seasons with the Seminoles, but it feels like the program is finally trending in the right direction and 2022 could be that breakout year.

Travis has another year of experience under his belt and he’s poised for a career season, Treshaun Ward is back at running back along with Oregon transfer Trey Benson, the receiving corps are going to be loaded after Norvell hit the portal hard, and the defense should improve.

After a 5-7 season in 2021, I could see Florida State winning 9-10 games in 2022 and shocking the ACC.
