Is Texas A&M football ready to take the next step in 2022 and reach the College Football playoff? Here are three reasons the answer is yes.

If you check out any preseason top 25 for college football ranking you are bound to see Texas A&M football near the top.

The Aggies were 8-4 a season ago and that was slightly disappointing but the future is bright and with the addition of Max Johnson from the transfer portal, Texas A&M seems poised for a playoff run.

The Aggies beat Alabama a year ago and signed the No. 1 recruiting class of all time according to the 247 sports composite rankings, a recruiting class that could get even better this week with another five-star addition to the 2022 class.

Still, there are plenty of obstacles facing Texas A&M. The first is being in the same division as Alabama. The Aggies have never won the SEC West and that’s going to be hard to change this season with their game against the Crimson Tide scheduled in Tuscaloosa.

But there are still three reasons to be optimistic about Texas A&M’s college football playoff hopes in 2022 and here they are starting with the schedule.

A favorable schedule

The schedule for Texas A&M football isn’t easy. But outside of Alabama, the toughest game for the Aggies is going to be against Arkansas and that’s at Jerry’s World. Miami could also be a tough game but they will be hosting the Hurricanes at Kyle Field.

Plus a win over Miami, who should be better than people expect, could carry more weight as the season goes on. Then, Ole Miss, LSU, and Florida are all home games with the most difficult road games coming against Auburn and South Carolina.

There are some challenges on that schedule to be sure. But it’s also not that hard to see the Aggies going 11-1 and if they do that, they are going to have a very good chance of making the College Football Playoff for the first time.
