Florida Football: 3 breakout candidates for spring 2022
I’m going to keep predicting a breakout from Anthony Richardson until it actually happens because that’s how confident I am that he’s on the verge of becoming a special player in Gainesville.
With Emory Jones now officially in the transfer portal after mulling that decision over for the past couple of months, Richardson is going to take the reins and put up some numbers this season, even with Jack Miller transferring in from Ohio State.
Richardson only has to beat out Miller and I think he’s more than capable and has more than enough talent to become one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC.
In his first “extensive” playing time in 2021, he passed for 529 yards and six touchdowns with a completion rate just under 60 percent. But where he absolutely did shine was in the run game. He was able to showcase his dual-threat ability and explosiveness, rushing for 401 yards and three touchdowns on 7.9 yards per carry.
If he can stay healthy this spring and into the 2022 season, I think Richardson becomes a household name around college football circles.
