Florida Football: Gators to wear black uniforms
Billy Napier is trying to change the Florida Football culture and had instilled another change with the reveal of black uniforms for the Gators.
Florida football head coach Billy Napier will be wrapping up his first spring in Gainesville and the hype is real and alive. He has put systems in place and has given a clear vision for the future of the program.
Today, another action has been put in place and confirmed. According to Richard Johnson of Sports Illustrated, the Florida Gators will wear black uniforms.
“We’re going to wear black uniforms here at the University of Florida,” said Billy Napier.
This is exciting because black uniforms have been asked for in the past and now the time has come.
It is unknown which game this will occur, but it is anticipated to happen this upcoming season. An aspect of this alternate uniform that is exciting is that it will be auctioned off after the game and the proceeds will be given to charity.
Another positive change for Florida football
Billy Napier is constantly seeking ways to move the program forward and create hype that will attract high-quality recruits. This is another one of those ways to do that.
“To get where you want to go, it’s important that you know who you are and what you stand for. I think that we want our brand to reflect those things,” Napier says. “It is about recruiting, but more importantly it’s about once the player arrives, the brand should reflect who you want the people to become and the example that you want to set. There’s a fine line in there between being old school and new school and we’re always looking for that.”
The Gators will be wrapping up the spring this evening with the annual Orange and Blue game. That game can be seen on SEC Network + at 7:30 PM EDT.
