Prior to tearing it up in Florida Football’s spring game, Anthony Richardson was pulled over earlier in April for driving over 100 MPH.

Florida football quarterback Anthony Richardson was pulled over a cited for speeding “in excess” at around 4 A.M on April 4, Tampa Bay Times reports. He was clocked at 105 mph on Newberry Road in unincorporated Alachua County, about 10 minutes west of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. He was driving his 2021 Dodge. Richardson has a NIL deal with Gainesville Dodge.

Richardson will have to attend a mandatory court hearing on May 25 since his speed range was over 30 MPH over the legal limit (60 MPH).

Richardson has been highly praised by coach, Billy Napier, as well as fans alike for his play on the field. He is expected to be the starting quarterback this upcoming fall for Napier’s first season as the Gator’s head football coach. This is what the head coach said after the spring game:

"“Anthony’s a production of a lot of hard work. I can’t say enough about his approach, it’s been first class. When I think about a quarterback, I think about a person who represents everything the organization is about. Certainly, at the highest level of football, the quarterback is the face of your origination. They set the greatest example. Their work ethic, their attention to detail, and their self-discipline in their approach. He’s a product of his work. He’s learned a new system. He commented well and the ball went where it was supposed to go. The players around him played well. The pocket was clean.”"

Napier, however, did not come out and mention the citation Richardson received.

"“I was talking to Anthony before the game. You take the field there, you run out the tunnel, go to your sideline, and Anthony’s warming up there before the game,” Napier said Thursday after the Blue and Orange scrimmage. “I think, to me, what I said to him I think applies to him and our entire organization, that urgency that you feel right now, ‘OK, hey, I want to perform and do my job to the best of my ability for the team,’ we need that same level of urgency between now and that first opportunity in the fall. Every day, each opportunity we have to approve — the offseason program this summer, every meeting, walkthrough, or practice rep — we’ve got to take full advantage of it."

Anthony Richardson was impressive during the Orange and Blue game. The sophomore quarterback passed for 207 yards and a pair of touchdowns and looks like he will be Florida football’s starting quarterback.
