Kaiir Elam, CB — No. 37 to the Texans (2nd round)

There are a handful of cornerbacks who are all capable of going in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft and Kaiir Elam is one of them.

You have guys like Ahmad Gardner, Derek Stingley Jr., Andrew Booth Jr., and Trent McDuffie who I believe will all go in the first round, but someone like Elam could sneak into the back-end of the first. It all depends on how teams see the cornerback rankings and if he’s really that big of a need.

The Texas, in my opinion, could take a chance on Elam early in the second round because I don’t see them snagging a corner in round one.

The former top-50 recruit had a really strong career at Florida, making the All-SEC first team in 2020 and probably could have made it again in 2021 if not for an injury. He finished with 68 tackles, three picks, and 16 pass breakups over his final two seasons with the Gators.

Elam has lockdown potential and could be a CB2 or CB3 right away for a team and I could see the Texans targeting him in round two.
