Florida Football trending up with 4-star QB Jaden Rashada, but don’t count out Miami
Florida football is trending up with four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada in the 2023 class but is he actually going to announce a decision this weekend?
This weekend could be very good for Florida football recruiting, especially if the Gators are able to reel in four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada.
Rashada is one of the top quarterbacks not committed in the 2023 class and he’s ranked seventh at the position according to the On3 consensus rankings, as well as ranking 42nd overall.
Rashada is out of Pittsburgh, California and while there seemed like a strong chance that he would stay out West with Oregon, Florida football and Texas A&M have both been gaining ground.
However, it’s Florida football that has emerged as the leader according to the On3 prediction machine. The Gators now have a 48 percent chance to win Rashada’s commitment and the reason for that is a prediction by Justin Hopkins of Scoop Duck, an Oregon insider.
The Ducks were the favorite at the start of June, but they are essentially out of it now. Rashada took two visits, one of them an official, in June to Florida football. He also took official visits to Texas A&M and LSU.
Miami has also been pushing for an official visit this week but it hasn’t happened yet. But according to Keegan Pope of On3.com, Miami is still in contact with Rashada and seems to be trying to get him to delay his decision.
A delay could be bad for the Gators
You can see why Miami wants a delay. The Hurricanes have been trying to get Rashada on campus for an official visit but with a decision two days away, it’s running out of time.
A delay of that announcement is the last thing Florida wants. As of now, this feels like a Florida-A&M battle with the Gators having a slight lead. They’ve got the momentum and Rashada loves the potential chance to start in 2023 if Anthony Richardson is gone to the NFL.
Texas A&M doesn’t offer that same opportunity. It might have the strongest NIL game, but playing time means something too. Florida and Miami can likely offer it earlier which matters in NIL too.
There haven’t been any crystal ball projections yet for Rashada, which reflects how wide-open this recruitment has been. Will it end this Saturday?
Florida should hope so.
