1. Brutal schedule with sky-high expectations

Remember when I mentioned early that Texas A&M is facing a tall task this season of living up to expectations? Yeah, those sky-high expectations can be considered a concern because non-perennial powers have a tough time living up to them and they can occasionally crush teams.

Texas A&M hasn’t won 10 games under Jimbo Fisher yet and now they’re expected to contend for the SEC title and a playoff spot? That’s not an easy spot to be in.

When you’re constantly chasing teams in the SEC and now you have a major target on your back and you’re going to get everyone’s best shot week in and week out, that can cause a ton of problems.

On top of having these lofty expectations, the Aggies have one of the most brutal schedules in the country. Playing in the SEC almost ensures that already, but the Aggies get App State and Miami in non-conference play and have a stretch of four games from Sept. 24 through Oct. 22 that they won’t play a single home game.

Texas A&M plays Arkansas, at Alabama, at South Carolina, Ole Miss, Florida, at Auburn, and LSU this season on top of those two tough non-conference bouts. A two-loss season would almost be a miracle with that gauntlet.
