It hasn’t taken long for Texas football to experience the impact of Arch Manning’s commitment as the Longhorns are trending for other elite talents in 2023.

The first question that everyone was asking once Arch Manning announced his commitment to Texas football, is are the Longhorns back?

Landing the No. 1 overall quarterback in the 2023 class and the most sought-after recruit in years certainly makes it seem that way, although the proof will have to be in the pudding in terms of results on the field.

However, Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian are clearly getting a boost on the recruiting trail thanks to Arch Manning’s pledge and it looks like the Longhorns are on the verge of another five-star commitment.

More elite talent coming to Texas football

The recruit in question is Johntay Cook who is from De Soto, Texas. He visited Michigan earlier this week and he released a top three of Texas football, Texas A&M, and Michigan.

However, Cook is visiting Texas football and the trend is on as the Longhorns have received four crystal ball projections for the No. 35 overall prospect in 2023 according to the 247 sports composite rankings.

The 6-foot, 170-pounder is dynamic and reminds me of the current Texas wideout Xavier Worthy. So yes, whenever Arch Manning takes over, he’s going to have weapons. Plus, beating the Aggies for an elite, in-state talent will bring a smile to fans of the burnt orange.

Yet, the Texas recruiting momentum doesn’t stop there.

The Longhorns are also hosting top-50 running back Cedric Baxter in the 2023 class this weekend and just like Cook, Texas is trending hard with expert projections for the 6-foot-1, 215-pound back out of Orlando.

The Aggies are also in the mix here, along with Miami and Florida, who are each listed as “warm” according to his 247 sports profile. But the third-ranked running back in 2023 seems poised to join Arch Manning at Forty Acres.

Texas has eight verbal pledges in 2023 right now and two top-100 commitments (with Manning included). But it looks like that number is going to double and before this cycle is all said and done, UT is going to have an elite class of signees.
