Friday will be a big day for five-star QB Dante Moore but there is some other key news on the college football recruiting front when it comes to quarterbacks.

The college football recruiting fireworks haven’t stopped since the Fourth of July weekend and they aren’t set to slow down anytime soon.

At least not this weekend as three five-star prospects are set to announce their decisions on Friday, with a slew of other recruits also set to announce in the coming days and weeks.

Last month, it was official visit season in college football recruiting and now, it’s commitment season. A bunch of big-time recruits have already pledged and in terms of quarterbacks, we have had some movement just in the past few days.

Jaden Rashada was the last big domino, at least until this week when four-star Avery Johnson, one of the top uncommitted passers left in the 2023 college football recruiting class, committed to Kansas State over Oregon and Washington.

While he visited Oregon in June, it was clear that Kansas State was the favorite and the Wildcats did a stellar job to keep the top recruit in the state of Kansas home.

It was also a sign that Oregon football was in a strong position for five-star QB Dante Moore. The Ducks hosted Moore for an official visit in the spring and an unofficial visit in late June.

That seemed to be what put Oregon football over the top as the Ducks have been trending with crystal ball projections ever since for the Detroit, Michigan quarterback.

He’s ranked No. 8 overall in the 2023 class according to the On3 consensus rankings and is No. 4 among quarterbacks in the 2023 college football recruiting class.

The Wolverines were also in the mix, along with LSU and Notre Dame, but unless there is a massive surprise or change of heart, Dante Moore is committing to Oregon football and it’s a huge win for the Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning.

And since Oregon football fans are likely worried about the Pac-12 and what conference the Ducks will play in, the future at quarterback isn’t something they’ll need to concern themselves with if Dante Moore follows through with his commitment as expected (12 PM EST on Sportscenter).
