4. Miami Hurricanes

Calling Miami’s 2021 season “disastrous” would be an understatement. The Hurricanes began the season ranked and had high hopes with D’Eriq King back at quarterback, but Manny Diaz’s seat got hotter throughout the year and he was replaced by Mario Cristobal before he was even officially fired — yeah, just a nightmare.

Cristobal returns to his alma mater as head coach and he’s already making a difference on the recruiting trail. That’s not going to help in 2022, but it shows things are headed in the right direction after an ugly 7-5 season.

King is gone and Tyler Van Dyke takes over at quarterback which is only going to help this offense which was stagnant, at times, last year. Van Dyke is considered one of the best young quarterbacks in college football and he could be a legit All-ACC first-teamer.

The Hurricanes return their top rusher, three starters on the offensive line, and three of their top five receivers from last season, and the defense can only improve from being No. 102 nationally against the pass and 75th overall. Oh, and they bring in the reigning Broyles Award winner in Josh Gattis to lead the offense as coordinator.

Plus, the schedule lines up nicely to set the Hurricanes up with at least 9-10 wins.
