Road tripping

Week 7 @ Illinois Fighting Illini Oct.15 Champaign, Ill

Minnesota football travels to Champaign after the Week 6 bye to avenge the loss to the Illini a year ago. Coach Bielema is getting Illinois to be a competitive team week-in and week-out, but the Gophers will be too much as a return to the run game will produce a typical grind-it-out win for the Gophers. The Gophers take this one 20-13.

Prediction: Win (5-1, 2-1 Big Ten)

Week 8 @ Penn State Nittany Lions Oct. 22 University Park, PA

Week 8 sends the Gophers packing to Happy Valley to take on Penn State. The two teams have played some pretty thrilling games with the Gophers taking two of the last three in the series, but the second road game of a back-to-back will prove to be too much in front of the white-out crowd in Beaver Stadium, and Penn State should come away with a comfortable win. Gophers lose 28-16.

Prediction: Loss (5-2, 2-2 Big Ten)
