College Football 2022 Week 0 TV schedule: How to binge-watch
By Kathryn Rose
Idaho State at UNLV (3:30 PM ET) on CBS Sports Network
Verdict: If you need it, it’s there, but there are better games on by 4 p.m.
There is loving college football, and there is being a sicko. This is a game to watch if you are a sicko; Idaho State finished 1-10 last year, while UNLV is consistently in college football’s basement. The only reason to watch this game is if the Northwestern-Nebraska game runs over three hours.
UConn at Utah State (4 PM ET) on FS1
Verdict: Don’t watch it
Utah State is replacing a lot of players, but this UConn team may legitimately be the worst team in FBS. The Aggies from the Beehive State are 27-point favorites.
Wyoming at Illinois (4 PM ET) on Big Ten Network
Verdict: Watch it
Bret Bielema says he knows who his starting quarterback is, but won’t tell anyone until it’s time to take the field against the Cowboys of Wyoming. Wyoming, meanwhile, has lost a lot from last year’s 7-6 squad. At least linebacker Easton Gibbs is still around.
Illinois is in a similar boat, returning only 51 percent of last year’s production. However, based on the talent advantage inherent in a Power Five versus Group of Five battle, Illinois is a 10-point favorite.
This game does have upset potential, though, so it’s worth keeping an eye on.
Duquesne at Florida State (5 PM ET) on ACC Network
Verdict: Don’t watch it
Can Duquesne walk where Jacksonville State did? The likely answer is no, but Duquesne was a very good FCS team last year. They went 7-3 and upset Ohio in Peden Stadium, which at least shows the potential for an interesting game.
However, Florida State is closer to where TCU was last year when the Dukes played the Horned Frogs; Duquesne lost that game 45-3. Jacksonville State had quite a few FBS transfers in, Duquesne does not.
