24. Houston: Wins the AAC

A lot of people are projecting Houston to run the table and be this year’s Cincinnati and make a push for the playoff. I’m not going that far. I think the Cougars will win the American Athletic Conference, topping Cincinnati, and push for a New Year’s Six bid. The schedule isn’t exactly the easiest, but Houston is going to take a couple of lumps and still win the league. Dana Holgorsen is building something special in Houston.

23. Cincinnati: Bearcats take step back, finish 9-3

No way Cincinnati doesn’t win the AAC title and Luke Fickell’s team doesn’t make another playoff push, right? Wrong. Desmond Ridder isn’t walking through that door and having an inexperienced quarterback leading the way is going to be a major hurdle for this team. And that’s not even mentioning Sauce Gardner moving on. Cincinnati is going to take a step back and finish the regular season with fewer than 10 wins.

22. Wake Forest: Sam Hartman comes back, has All-ACC year

Sam Hartman’s return to Wake Forest is uncertain right now and Dave Clawson isn’t sure about his quarterback’s future but I’m going out there and predicting a return and All-ACC caliber season. I do see him missing at least a few weeks, but I could imagine him coming back for the Clemson game and really showing out and having a career year. This is more of a hopeful prediction.
