College Football Rankings 2022: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 3
Texas A&M is going to see a considerable drop this week after losing to an unranked 0-1 Group of Five team at home in Week 2. The Aggies didn’t look especially impressive against Sam Houston State in Week 1 and the lackluster play continued in Week 2 as App State came to town. The Aggies may not even be Top 25 good right now and there may be a need for a quarterback change.
I don’t think a single soul thought Ole Miss was going to struggle against Central Arkansas, and the Rebels didn’t. They actually raced out to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 50-plus point win while Jaxson Dart gained some confidence with a couple of touchdown passes and 10-for-15 completions for 182 yards. This team can be really good in 2022.
After struggling in the opener with East Carolina, NC State had no problems with Charleston Southern in a 55-3 win. This game was over by halftime, Devin Leary threw four touchdown passes, and we still didn’t learn much about the Wolfpack. NC State will probably move up a spot or two after this win.
There are highs in college football and so many lows. Florida experienced the highest of highs in Week 1 with a win over No. 7 Utah but the premature vaulting of the Gators all the way to No. 12 looked silly as they dropped a home game against rival Kentucky, 26-16. Anthony Richardson came back down to earth in the loss and the Billy Napier era is off to a roller-coaster of a start.
Was Miami overly impressive in their 30-7 win over Southern Miss on Saturday? Not necessarily, but they did some nice things. Tyler Van Dyke had a decent game with 263 yards and a touchdown and Henry Parrish Jr. broke the 100-yard mark with a touchdown. The defense also held Southern Miss to seven points, but this won’t get the Hurricanes into the top 10.
