It was a wild week of college football as a number of top-25 teams were upset by big-time underdogs including Notre Dame Football, Texas A&M, and Nebraska.

During the first week of the college football season, there were upsets, but nothing like we saw during Week 2 of the 2022 season.

Three teams: Notre Dame football, Texas A&M, and Houston were upset by unranked teams, while Baylor, Florida, and Pittsburgh were all beaten by lower-ranked teams. Baylor and Pitt were on the road but the Gators were at home after notching the top upset last week.

However, if you read my upset alert column last week, you won’t be all that surprised that Texas A&M football or Florida lost. Each was on upset alert.

Yet, of all the upsets we saw in Week 2 of the college football season were shocking and breakdown the top five starting with the Wildcats win over Florida.

5. No. 20 Kentucky at No. 12 Florida (-6)

The fact that Florida football was favored by six points was probably a good clue that this was going to be an upset special. Kentucky won 10 games last season, has its own really good quarterback in Will Levis, and a really good defense.

Anthony Richardson dominated Utah last week but was 14-of-35 for 143 yards and threw two interceptions against the Wildcats. He also ran just six times for four yards, so I guess we better slow down the Heisman campaign.

At any rate, people need to take Kentucky seriously in the SEC because the Wildcats are no joke. They still have to prove they can beat the elite teams in the conference. However, a win at the swamp is always a good thing for the Wildcats.
