College Football Rankings 2022: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 4
I really wanted to drop Michigan State to make room for Florida State but I’m not ready to declare the Seminoles back after a win over Louisville and a mediocre LSU team. The Spartans didn’t have a defense against the Huskies on Saturday night but Payton Thorne finally got back on track without his top receiver. Not a bad night for the offense but the defense was a nightmare.
Washington dominated Michigan State from start to finish and it had a lot to do with the Spartans’ defense not being able to stop a familiar foe in Michael Penix Jr. The win should shoot the Huskies into the AP Top 25 for the first time this season and everyone is buying into the Kalen DeBoer era in Seattle so far.
Pitt just didn’t look overly impressive but you have to give the Panthers some credit for winning on the road against a tough Western Michigan team without their starting quarterback. They won’t move up in the rankings for this performance and might actually move down, but I have them staying in the same range as a week ago.
A tie game at halftime? What are we doing here, Texas? The Longhorns may have been missing Quinn Ewers on Saturday but being tied with UTSA at halftime just isn’t good enough. The Longhorns are still an AP Top 25 team and should probably stay close to their ranking from last week.
Miami wasn’t able to steal a win from Texas A&M on Saturday night but the Hurricanes didn’t exactly look overmatched. I’m not ready to write off Mario Cristobal’s team as serious ACC contenders. But this loss also doesn’t convince anyone that they’re able to win the league or even take down Clemson.
