Winner: Notre Dame Head Coach Marcus Freeman

Panic no more, Notre Dame fans.

You were losers in my Week 2 column, but this week Marcus Freeman has snapped his three-game losing streak as the Head Coach of the Irish and got that elusive first win. It was a good one, too.

Notre Dame defeated California 24-17 after pitching a fourth-quarter shutout and scoring 10 points to earn the victory.

If Notre Dame lost against Cal and started this season 0-3, the Irish would be in full melt-down mode. Marcus Freeman just saved himself from officially being put on the hot season in his first full season as the team’s head coach.

Winner: Texas A&M Aggies

After suffering an embarrassing loss to App State last week, Texas A&M ignored the noise and took care of business against No. 13 Miami.

Not to be deterred from a week of cringe-worthy videos making the rounds on social media or being chastised across the country on sports talk shows, fans showed up at Kyle Field for this massive game against the Hurricanes. In fact, reports say it was the third-largest crowd ever at the stadium (107,245) and the largest ever for a non-conference game.

The Aggies played great against Mario Cristobal’s ‘Canes, holding them to just three field goals all game. Texas A&M never surrendered a touchdown and heads into another big game against old Southwest Conference rival Arkansas next week with a little momentum and a ton of confidence.
