Can the Arkansas football team prevail against Texas A&M in Week 4 of the 2022 college football season?

The Arkansas football team and the Texas A&M Aggies square off in their annual Southwest Classic game, which is set to take place at AT&T Stadium in Dallas on September 24 at 7 PM ET on ESPN. Joe Tessitore, Greg McElroy, and Katie George will be on the call for television viewers.

The Razorbacks, 3-0 and ranked No. 10, are looking for their second consecutive win over the Aggies. Texas A&M enters this contest with a record of 2-1 and a ranking of No. 24 after a loss to unranked Appalachian State from the Group of Five in Week 2.

This Arkansas-Texas A&M matchup has quietly become one of the best trophy games in the SEC, with the two sides playing for the Southwest Classic trophy. It’s a nod to the history between these two teams that dates back to the old Southwest Conference that was dissolved in 1996.

The Hogs won last season 20-10 and control the all-time series with 42 wins, 33 losses, and 3 ties dating back to 1903. But, before that Arkansas win in 2021, the Aggies enjoyed a nine-game winning streak from 2012-2020.

This is the highest the Hogs have been ranked while playing A&M since 2010, when they were ranked No. 11 and Bobby Petrino was the head coach. Serendipitously, this Arkansas team just fended off Petrino’s Missouri State Bears last week to fend off a massive upset.

But that game is far behind the Hogs in the rearview mirror. Now, it’s time to take a look at three reasons why the Arkansas Razorbacks will defeat the Texas A&M Aggies this week.
