Pac-12 Football: Could the conference championship be the battle of LA?
By Dante Pryor
8. Washington Huskies (4-2, 1-2)
Are the Huskies fraudulent? Washington’s defense has allowed 85 points in its last two games, including 45 points to a quarterback who began his career as a fifth-string walkon. Their games against UCLA and Arizona State have one common denominator; both the Bruins and Sun Devils had success running the football. U-Dubb looks to rebound against Arizona.
7. Washington State Cougars (4-2, 1-2)
The Cougars are another team that has cooled after a fast start. Washington State has lost two of its last three games and has no one to blame but itself. The Cougars gift-wrapped their 44-41 loss to Oregon, and drive-killing penalties cost them against USC. The moral of this story is to cut out the mistakes to win games.
6. Oregon State Beavers (4-2, 1-2)
The Beavers defeated Stanford on a spectacular catch and score by wide receiver Tre’Shaun Harrison. Another factor that led the Beavs to the win on The Farm was not throwing the ball to the other team. After throwing eight interceptions in their last two games –both losses– the Beavers had zero picks in this one.
5. California Golden Bears (3-2, 1-1)
The Golden Bears got a week to lick its wounds after a 28-9 loss to Washington State after scoring 31 points against Arizona the week before. The Cal offense has to go through freshman phenom running back Jaydn Ott. He’s the Bears’ best offensive playmaker and helps set up the play-action for quarterback Jack Plummer.
