1. Dan Lanning, Oregon HC

If you want to aim big, you go right for the guy who hired Kenny Dillingham and potentially strike gold with a 2-for-1 hire. Maybe if Ole Miss can convince Dan Lanning to leave Oregon after one year (hey, it’s happened before), Dillingham could opt to stick with the guy who hired him and head back to the SEC.

It wouldn’t be bad to at least try, right?

Lanning has been arguably the best first-year hire in college football this season, going 9-2 in his first 11 games as a head coach and he’s turned Oregon around after the Ducks had a forgettable end to the Mario Cristobal era.

The offense looks better, the defense has been much better, and every hire he’s made in Eugene has seemingly paid off in a big way.

Lanning would be my best-case scenario for Ole Miss and if you think that the Rebels aren’t a big enough draw for a coach at a program like Oregon, just remember that they made the biggest splash a couple of years ago with Lane Kiffin.
