Upset pick: No. 14 Notre Dame football at No .6 USC (-4.5)

Speaking of really good defenses, Notre Dame football is playing really well on defense and will get a chance to put an exclamation point on the 2022 season with a win over No. 6 USC.

The Irish have found their formula which involves a running game that averages 193 yards per game and efficient play from the quarterback. Drew Pyne has thrown 19 touchdowns compared to five interceptions and Michael Mayer leads an underrated group of pass catchers with nearly 800 yards receiving from the tight end position.

Notre Dame football should be able to run the football against the Trojans, who are allowing 4.6 yards per attempt. Audric Estime and Logan Diggs are both averaging over five yards per attempt and Diggs had 122 yards in the 44-0 win over Boston College last week.

Caleb Williams is going to present a huge challenge but the Irish did a solid job against C.J. Stroud earlier in the year and I see no reason why they can’t limit Williams too.
