College Football Playoff Rankings 2022: Projected Top 25 for Week 14
For years, it’s felt like Florida has dominated the annual rivalry game against Florida State, but the Seminoles are having a really nice bounce-back year and decided to change that narrative. Jordan Travis willed the Seminoles to a high-scoring win to end the year and Mike Norvell has turned it around.
Utah blew Colorado out of the water but I don’t think the Utes will do much moving in the rankings this week because the Buffaloes are arguably the worst Power Five team in the nation. It was business as usual for the Utes as they won 63-21 and improved to 9-3 on the year with a Pac-12 title game looming.
How could I possibly believe that Oregon will still be ahead of Oregon State after Saturday’s loss? Because I truly believe the committee has no choice unless they want to drop the Ducks 6-7 spots. I don’t think that’s quite warranted. Oregon blew a 31-10 lead to lose to the Beavers in one of the wildest games of the year.
I actually can’t believe that Clemson blew this one. The Tigers had the South Carolina game all sewn up, but some mind-blowing turnovers changed the outlook and Clemson choked down the stretch to lose at home, 31-30. Dabo Swinney will not be coaching a playoff team for a second straight season.
Washington took exception to Washington State stomping the Huskies on their own field and planting a flag last season, so all they did was exact revenge by scoring 51 points in this year’s Apple Cup. Michael Penix Jr. threw for 485 yards and three touchdowns as the Huskies improve to 10-2 and Kalen DeBoer has done one of the best coaching jobs in the country.
