2. LSU Tigers (No. 14)

From the outside, it feels like a 9-3 LSU team should be ranked somewhere around No. 14, but dropping nine spots after a road loss in SEC play is wild.

We hear all the time about SEC bias and I truly believe it’s real, but this seems like an insane punishment for losing to a talented team on the road that just didn’t play to its potential this year. I don’t think Texas A&M is a good team, but talent is not lacking there.

No, there are no such things as good losses, but I don’t think this is an egregious defeat that warrants a nine-spot free-fall. That’s just insane to me.

A week ago, LSU was on the verge of becoming the first-ever two-loss team to make the playoff field, but a loss to Texas A&M changed the committee’s opinion of the Tigers that much. From almost making the playoff to potentially not even making a New Year’s Six bowl? That seems insane to me, especially for a team that has beaten Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Alabama this year.

Their only losses are to Florida State, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.
