14. Virginia Cavaliers (3-8, 1-6)

Few saw this type of season coming for the Cavaliers. First-year head coach Tony Elliot had one of the more exciting quarterbacks in the conference, Brennan Armstrong, and many pieces from the 2021 team returning. However, Armstrong was markedly worse than last season, and the law of transference was in full effect.

DJ Uiagalelei got better this season, and Brennan Armstrong got worse. The common denominator is Tony Elliot. Next season is sure to be interesting.

13. Virginia Tech (3-8, 1-6)

This season was sure to be a zero year for the Hokies. Former head coach Justin Fuente did not leave much in the cupboard for first-year head coach Brent Pry. Not only does Pry have to revamp the roster, but he also has to repair relationships with some high school head coaches Fuente fractured.

Legendary head coach Frank Beamer built Virginia Tech and made that job look more accessible than it is.

12. Boston College (3-9, 2-6)

There are a lot of questions in Chestnut Hill this off-season. Will quarterback Phil Jurkovec return next season or try his luck in the draft? Will Zay Flowers return? Will he enter the portal or enter the draft? How much will the defense improve next season? Can the offensive line stay healthy? Head coach Jeff Hafley has to answer all of these questions if the Eagles are to have any success next season.

11. Miami Hurricanes (3-5, 5-7)

This team quit on Mario Cristobal at the end of the season. Tyler Van Dyke and Jake Garcia both had injuries. Maybe the expectations were too high in year one in Coral Gables. The culture is terrible in that program and is a bigger mess than anyone thought. Also, the offense that allowed Van Dyke to flourish last season is gone. Rhett Lashlee is the head coach at SMU and Josh Gattis took over.

Miami did not have an actual number one receiver like Charleston Rambo, and a valid number two like Mike Hartley hurt the Hurricanes’ offense. In addition, the defense did not carry the team as expected.
