Florida football: 3 early signees who’ll have instant impacts in 2023
Anthony Richardson’s departure is going to be a tough pill to swallow for this offense because I don’t think he really even touched his potential in a Gator uniform and he probably had so much more to offer with another season, but NFL scouts are salivating over him as a prospect. He already skipped the bowl game and we saw the offense sputter out for three points.
Jack Miller was brought over from Ohio State in the offseason and he was solid in the bowl loss with 180 yards on 13-for-22 passing, but his offense only mustered a field goal. That’s not going to cut it. It may be time to find a completely new option.
Graham Mertz transferred in from Wisconsin, but I think Jaden Rashada has the highest ceiling and most talent of any quarterback on the roster. He could be a day one starter.
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound quarterback from California has an effortless cannon for an arm and makes the toughest throws look easy. And he’s only going to get better. I think he enters the quarterback battle immediately and makes an early case to be a freshman starter.
Rashada is enrolling early and the 247Sports five-star quarterback is ranked the No. 29 prospect in the class and he’s the sixth-best passer. This was a huge recruiting win for the Gators over in-state rival Miami and the excitement surrounding the five-star quarterback is through the roof.
And rightly so.
