2. An elite quarterback/running back tandem coming back

Every good team is build on a solid offensive line, and Michigan has just that. Not only will an elite offensive line take a team from good to great, but a top-tier quarterback and running back will take an offense to the next level. We saw that this year with JJ McCarthy and, at the end of the season, Donovan Edwards.

We’re still awaiting word on Blake Corum’s NFL decision and he may very well return for one final season in Ann Arbor, but I’d put my money on him leaving and giving way to Edwards.

And that wouldn’t be a bad thing.

In my opinion, Edwards was the most talented back on the Wolverines this season. Corum was the most complete back, but Edwards just had a special explosiveness and elusiveness about him that set him apart.

With both players returning next season, Michigan’s offense will be one of the best in the nation. McCarthy and Edwards will both be on Heisman watch lists and they’ll be led by one of the best offensive lines in college football. With that tandem coming back, Michigan will likely be the favorite to win the Big Ten for a third straight year.
