Texas A&M football: 3 second-year players who’ll become stars in 2023
This isn’t even a hot take at this point, but Conner Weigman is easily the most talented quarterback on Texas A&M’s roster and he was in 2022 as well.
Haynes King got the nod to start the season but has since transferred to Georgia Tech and Max Johnson just never looked like the guy at quarterback. Weigman had the best season of all three Aggie quarterbacks last season, finishing with 896 yards and eight touchdowns. He didn’t quite have the best accuracy at 55 percent, but he didn’t throw a single pick on 132 attempts as a true freshman.
Weigman was the second-best quarterback in the 2022 class as a five-star, so it’s really no surprise that he saw so much success in year one.
Texas A&M may have its best quarterback in years and potentially in the Jimbo Fisher era as Weigman is my pick to win the starting job this season.
If he does win the job (he will), he will be one of the top young quarterbacks in the country next season and I could see him throwing for over 3,000 yards and 20-plus touchdowns.
