Oregon football: 3 second-year players who’ll become stars in 2023
If you don’t remember this recruitment, it was one of the most intense in the entire 2022 class. Oregon was always pushing for Josh Conerly but USC looked like the leader forever. Heck, even Washington was in the running to keep the five-star offensive tackle home in Seattle.
But Oregon saw a coaching change and Dan Lanning was able to close on Conerly and swipe him from a couple of other Pac-12 foes.
Heck, Conerly had over 30 offers so the fact that Lanning came in and immediately shut the door kind of showed the rest of the country what kind of recruiting chops he had.
As a freshman, Conerly played in just over 100 total snaps and looked solid but I think he’s about to become a legitimate star in 2023.
The former No. 1 offensive tackle in the nation is going to have an All-Pac-12 caliber season for Oregon with TJ Bass now gone.
