What has Stanford been known for over the years outside of having really good defenses in the prime David Shaw days? That’s right, elite tight ends.

Sam Roush could be the next one.

The four-star tight end from Nashville was ranked the No. 296 overall prospect in the 2022 class and the 12th-best at the position, according to composite. He has the ability to move up the depth chart this season and he’s behind just senior Benjamin Yurosek.

The veteran tight end was third on the team in receiving last season and Roush had just two catches for 34 yards. That’s a major discrepancy, but the second-year tight end from Tennessee could be a legit component in Troy Taylor’s first offense. He has the potential to be a star, but we’ll see what kind of opportunity he gets.
