Quarterback: A-

Could Notre Dame have landed a better quarterback? Maybe, but no one is going to complain about Kenny Minchey committing to the Irish. He’s going to be a very good quarterback in a couple of years when he’s ready to take over the starting job from Sam Hartmand and/or Tyler Buchner.

The Tennessee native is ranked the No. 166 overall recruit and 14th-best quarterback in the class. He’s also Tennessee’s No. 3 prospect.

Cooper Pategna of 247Sports compared Minchey to Sam Ehlinger and says he’s a 4-7 round pick in the NFL draft. He could be higher if he lives up to his potential but his 6-foot-1 height kind of limits that ceiling.

Minchey is a good athlete so he’ll be able to get out and run which is what the Notre Dame offense has been gearing toward for years.

Marcus Freeman got a good quarterback here right before CJ Carr comes to South Bend in 2024.
