Florida State football is trending up on the recruiting trail and the Seminoles are making headway in their attempt to flip No. 1 tight end Landen Thomas in 2024.

Earlier this week, Georgia football got some less-than-stellar news when it comes to the No. 1 tight end in the 2023 recruiting class and now, there is some worrisome reporting for the Bulldogs about Landen Thomas, the top tight end in 2024.

Duce Robinson is the top tight end in 2023. The 6-foot-6 pass catcher might also be a first-round pick in the MLB draft and was just projected to USC with a crystal ball.

The Bulldogs also missed out on Walker Lyons recently, so for a team that’s turned out some stellar tight ends, Georgia football hasn’t had great news.

Florida State football has done well on the recruiting trail recently and had one of the best hauls of any team in the 2023 college football transfer portal. They also have the No. 4 class so far in 2024 and they’re looking to add to it with tight end Landen Thomas.

Thomas is 6-foot-4, 225 pounds, and is out of Moultrie, Georgia. He’s been committed since July but Thomas recently visited Florida State football’s Junior Day and now, according to 247 sports, Thomas is expected to take another visit to Tallahassee.

Could Florida State football pull off a flip?

This would be the second visit for Thomas who told 247 sports that he’s going to take three official visits with one being to Georgia. Florida State football is going to get the other. Ohio State is the only other school he mentioned.

The Seminoles actually had Thomas committed at one point, before he re-opened his recruitment and went with in-state UGA.

With Thomas being committed so early, it’s not shocking to see him take some other visits. I don’t think anyone is predicting that Georgia loses him yet, and with Robinson trending to USC, you can expect Georgia to ramp up its efforts.

It is something to watch though. I’d be cautiously optimistic as a Florida State football fan, however, Georgia is always tough to beat, so we’ll see.
