Quarterback Casey Thompson has entered the college football transfer portal and here are three potential landing spots including Auburn and Florida.

Sunday is the final day that players are able to enter their name into the college football transfer portal during the spring window and there was a key addition on Friday in former Nebraska and Texas starting quarterback Casey Thompson.

Thompson has attempted 564 passes during his college football career and has thrown for 4,829 yards. He averages 8.6 yards per attempt and has 47 touchdown passes compared to 19 interceptions and a career completion percentage of 63.5.

With the slim pickings at the position, Casey Thompson should be pursued by a number of big-name college football programs such as Auburn football, Florida football, and others.

Auburn football was in the mix for Tyler Buchner before he went to Alabama, so it’s pretty clear that Hugh Freeze wants to upgrade at quarterback too. If Billy Napier doesn’t see that Florida football needs an upgrade, that’s a concern to me too, and the Gators should push hard for Casey Thompson who would be an upgrade over Graham Mertz.

In all, there are plenty of teams that could use Casey Thompson, and here are the top three landing spots now that he’s in the college football transfer portal.

Oklahoma State

As it stands right now, the Cowboys could be looking at Alan Bowman as their starter. The former Texas Tech quarterback spent the past two years at Michigan before transferring to Oklahoma State during the offseason.

Bowman has a big edge in experience and he would probably do a solid job. However, Thompson would be a clear upgrade. He’s got a great deep ball and is familiar with the Big 12. If Mike Gundy hasn’t called yet, he should.

Thompson would be the clear starter in Stillwater, which is what he wants and Gundy would get a guy capable of being an All-Big-12 type of performer.
