Florida football the early favorite to land 4-star CB Jamari Howard?
This past weekend, Jamari Howard decided to reopen his recruitment. The four-star cornerback from Hialeah, Fla., was committed to Michigan State since the fall and it felt like that pledge was wavering because the home-state schools had come calling.
Florida State and Florida were the two teams that immediately stood out in terms of flipping Howard and landing the elite 2024 cornerback.
But it feels like the Gators may have a slight lead here.
According to 247Sports, Florida is the only team listed as “warm” in terms of Howard’s interest level and that could be a sign that the Gators hold a slight lead over Florida State and another in-state team like Miami.
Florida football will be getting the first official visit
Even before he decommitted from Michigan State, he scheduled an official visit to Florida and there was another one to Florida State in the works. He’s supposed to be in Gainesville on June 2 and then the following week, he’s scheduled to be back in East Lansing to meet with the Spartans and Mel Tucker on June 9.
Howard is one of the best recruits in the class, ranked No. 75 overall and the No. 8 cornerback in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite.
Florida is going to be pushing to land him over Florida State, Miami, and Michigan State. He’s likely going to require a large NIL deal in order to commit, so that could help Florida’s chances.
Will Billy Napier be able to seal the deal and land the former Spartan pledge?
