Nebraska football wasn’t the only team that was stung by the decision of Dylan Raiola but the Huskers don’t have the options some others do.

The decision of five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola to commit to Georgia football stung a lot of college football fans and teams. However, it stung for Nebraska probably more than any other.

There’s a reason for that. The Huskers are fresh off a 4-8 season and have a brand new head coach in Matt Rhule, who came to Nebraska football after getting fired from the Carolina Panthers last season.

Rhule and Nebraska football went all in on Dylan Raiola following his commitment from Ohio State and in the end, it might not have been the best decision.

The Huskers probably could have landed Daniel Kaelin, a top-5 player in the state of Nebraska in the 2024 class and a player ranked in the top 500 of the 247 Sports composite rankings.

However, instead of prioritizing Kaelin, they went after Raiola (rightfully so with the ties to the school) but now the Huskers are left without many great options.

USC and Oregon were other teams in the mix that got left at the altar. However, The Ducks are trending to land the commitment of four-star QB Michael Van Buren, along with Luka Moga, a three-star quarterback in the 2024 class too.

So Oregon is poised to land two quarterbacks still in the 2024 class. USC also is still in a good spot. Malachi Nelson was a five-star QB in 2023 and Elijah Brown is a name to watch for the Trojans in the 2024 class.

However, Nebraska doesn’t have another four-star player to fall back on. Trying to flip Daniel Kaelin or Dante Reno is one strategy but both feel like tough pulls.

Kamari McClellan will be visiting on June 2nd. He’s a three-star QB in the 2024 class that Marcus Satterfield the offensive coordinator is familiar with. If the Huskers like him, that could be the guy.

But, Nebraska football hasn’t offered yet. If the offer comes on June 2nd when the three-star QB is expected to visit, Nebraska fans will have their answer in terms of a new 2024 QB target.

However, waiting for the transfer portal might be the best option, especially if the Huskers aren’t sold on a QB because they don’t have the scholarship room to waste.
