Following another 2024 commitment and some updated rankings, Georgia football has taken over the No. 1 ranking in the 2024 class.

We should be used to seeing the Georgia football program recruit at an elite level. The Bulldogs have been doing that for years, well before Kirby Smart arrived on in Athens.

Smart just took things to another level. He did that with Georgia football recruiting and in terms of winning. Three times the Bulldogs have played for the national title under Smart and they have won the last two.

Georgia football is the new college football power and while the Michigan Wolverines have held the top spot in the 2024 rankings for over a month, the Bulldogs moved back into the top spot with a commitment and some rankings updates on Monday.

Georgia football has the No. 1 recruiting class again

The commitment was from three-star tight end Colton Heinrich, who is ranked 633rd overall in the 2024 class. He’s 6-foot-3 and out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Heinrich is ranked 32nd overall at the position and while he’s not Landen Thomas, he’s a solid take.

Georgia football now has 14 total commitments. Michigan has 17, which also tells you where things are headed in terms of the race for No. 1. The Wolverines have a solid class and one that includes three top-100 prospects, as well as one five-star QB.

However, Georgia football is just on another level.

The Bulldogs have eight top-100 prospects and they are also trending toward a commitment with a trio of five-star prospects which includes five-star safety KJ Bolden, who was just projected to the Bulldogs on Sunday by Steve Wiltfong of 247 Sports.

Dylan Raiola just committed last week for UGA and he might be the best recruiting win of the Kirby Smart era, as impressive as that sounds. It certainly helps ease the pain of missing out on Arch Manning.

Ohio State is certainly in the mix and has 13 commitments right now but is ranked 3rd overall. Michigan could be in the mix if the Wolverines are able to turn around some five-star recruitments, but if I was a betting man, I’d bet heavily on Georgia football to finish in the No. 1 spot in the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Alabama is No. 1 in terms of the average rating of each recruit. Notre Dame, LSU, and Oregon are all putting together stellar classes too. But Georgia is on its own level and right now, it’s hard to see any other team finishing No. 1 in the recruiting rankings for the 2024 class.
