College football fans are all looking forward to huge matchups like Texas/Alabama and Ohio State/Notre Dame, but what games are flying under the radar?

Despite the fact that we are 83 days away, it’s never too early to start thinking about the start of the 2023 college football season. Right now within college athletics, the NCAA Lacrosse tournament finished last week, we’re in the midst of a fantastic Women’s College World Series, and the Men’s College World Series is starting to really fire up.

Once those events wrap up, it’s time to put all the focus on college football, which kicks off with seven contests on August 26. Week Zero’s slate is highlighted by one of college football’s most historic rivalries, Notre Dame against Navy, with this year’s showdown being held at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. Believe it or not, these two programs have a history in Ireland. Notre Dame defeated Navy 50-10 in 2012 in that very same stadium to kick off their run to the National Championship game that year.

It’s hard to call any Notre Dame game under the radar, and that’ll be the case again this year. But that won’t be true for many other college football programs around the country.

Any game that features the Irish, or teams like Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, or Michigan is always going to attract attention. You can safely bet that College Gameday will go to at least three of those five sites this fall if not all five. But don’t forget, Gameday ended up at sites like App State, Kansas, and even FCS Montana State.

This isn’t a Gameday writeup, but it goes to show that sometimes the best college football games of the week aren’t ones we see coming.

The most underrated game each week could be considered a diamond in the rough, and oftentimes, it does turn into a gem. One note before we get started: I’m only picking one game per week of the college football season with the exception of two weeks: Week 1 (one additional game from the Thursday and Friday of the opening weekend) as well as Week 13, which contains an always-loaded Black Friday slate.
