13 College Football Players that would be in 99 club in NCAA Football 2023
If NCAA football 2023 actually existed as a video game, here are 13 current players that would be part of the 99 club.
The last time that we were graced with a college football video game was way back when Denard Robinson was on the cover of NCAA Football 14. By the time we finally get another one next summer a decade will have passed and the game has changed in some major ways. The transfer portal has changed the way recruiting is done, the BCS no longer exists, and NIL (one of the main reasons EA stopped making college sports games in general) is now the most important thing in the college football landscape.
That being said, there are some things that never change. Electronic Arts makes a majority of its money every year from microtransactions in their sports games through Ultimate Team, a card-based game mode, in which gamers can earn progressively better player cards as the year goes on. It is extremely likely that EA will lean heavily on that cash cow in their college football game as well, but it’s worth noting that developers have said that they intend to focus on the fan-favorite Dynasty mode.
When trying to choose which team to control in that dynasty mode it’s always worth knowing which players have the ability to carry a roster. Check out the 13 players that would likely be 99s if EA were making their College Football game prior to this season.
Caleb Williams QB USC
Dominant Stat: 99 Elusiveness
This is probably the most obvious 99 if there was an NCAA Football game for 2023 aside from perhaps Marvin Harrison Jr. who we’ll get to later.
The reigning Heisman Trophy winner (and favorite to win it this season), is said to have been viewed favorably to Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, and Anthony Richardson who were all selected in the top five of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Williams would potentially represent an even more serious problem for opposing defenses in a video game than he does in real life. His throw power would likely be near the top end of the scale and he’d be one of the top dual threats on the game with speed, acceleration, and agility stats all in the mid-90s.
If you were looking to capitalize on an insane skill set for a storied university in a conference that offers little in the way of competition for a playoff spot, Caleb Williams would be an ideal Road to Glory candidate and an obvious 99 overall.
