Recruiting for Stanford football is no easy task.

As a head coach, you have to be mindful of the academic standards while also trying to find guys who fit your system. But fortunately for the Cardinal, they have found head coaches who could recruit at a high level while maintaining and respecting academics in Jim Harbaugh and David Shaw over the past decade-plus.

Shaw, however, stepped down after last season.

Finding a head coach to follow that same success on the recruiting trail wouldn’t be easy and when Troy Taylor was hired from Sacramento State, there were some doubters. Those doubters have been quieted thanks to Taylor’s first recruiting class.

In fact, Taylor’s first class with Stanford is ranked No. 12 in the country as of June 30. It could soon be on the rise once again if a trend for a top four-star offensive tackle turns into a commitment.

You have to give Taylor some props for the job he’s done so far.

On Friday, Stanford picked up a crystal ball for four-star offensive tackle Isaiah Garcia from Steve Wiltfong. Basically, this is a massive crystal ball from one of the most plugged-in recruiting experts in the nation.

Garcia is ranked No. 214 overall in the class and he’s the No. 19 offensive tackle, per the composite. Previously, he held a crystal ball from Utah (he’s a Utah native) and he’s also shown interest in Oregon, USC, and UCLA.

If Garcia does commit to the Cardinal, he would become their sixth four-star commitment.

Help could soon be on the way to the Stanford trenches.
