The 2023 college football season is off and running with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Navy Midshipmen facing off in Dublin, Ireland.

This is the third time Notre Dame and Navy have met on the Emerald Isle, and the first two meetings went to the Irish, with a 54-27 win in 1995 and a 50-10 win in 20112.

The anticipation and excitement in Dublin was at a fever pitch, as fans were ready to see the season begin. Reportedly 30,000 Notre Dame fans were on hand for the game.

With every new season, there is an entire new list of firsts, and in 2023 it didn’t take long for the first touchdown to be scored. After a textbook drive down the field to open the game, Notre Dame running back Audric Estime punched the ball in at the goalline to give the Irish a 7-0 lead.

Since that first touchdown, it’s been all Notre Dame, with the Irish staking themselves to a 21-0 lead in the first half (so far).

Unless Navy can figure out a way to stop Sam Hartman and the Notre Dame running game, it looks like the first win of the 2023 college football season will belong to Notre Dame as well.
