5. Iowa (1-0)

Cade McNamara threw two touchdowns in his first start for Iowa on Saturday which was the first time a Hawkeyes quarterback had done that since 1991. If the offense can be respectable, this team can win the Big Ten West. Utah State held Iowa to 24 points though, so let’s not get carried away. We’ll how the offense handles Iowa State on Saturday.

4. Wisconsin (1-0)

The Badgers were another Big Ten football team that was a little sluggish in the opener before Chez Mellusi and Braelon Allen took over. They combined for 298 rushing yards in the win over Buffalo and saved the day after Tanner Mordecai threw two interceptions. If the Badgers don’t get too cute and continue to ground and pound, they still make sense as the Big Ten West favorite.

3. Penn State (1-0)

Penn State football fans have to be thrilled with the first career start of Drew Allar. He completed 21-of-29 passes for 325 yards and three touchdowns. He also took just one sack. Nick Singleton ran the ball 13 times for 70 yards and the defense was stellar. If Allar plays like that all season, Penn State can win the Big Ten. No question about it.
