Baylor football: 3 reasons the Bears will upset No. 12 Utah in Week 2
2. Sawyer Robertson is going to show why he was a big-time prospect
When Sawyer Robertson was getting recruited out of high school, he was a big-time prospect with a plethora of offers from the likes of Arkansas, Florida State, TCU, Texas, USC, and Wisconsin, but he committed to Mississippi State and then transferred to Baylor this offseason.
Of course Dave Aranda wanted him because he saw potential in the former No. 134 overall prospect in the 2021 class out of Lubbock and it turns out it was the perfect addition.
Unfortunately, he entered the game in a tough spot with Texas State already leading and Baylor struggling to keep up and he was unable to lead the charge. That’s a tough spot to throw any new quarterback into and he finished with 113 yards and a pick on 6-of-12 completions.
With a week of prep for this one, I think we’re going to see Robertson look much more polished and ready and he’s going to show just why some of the nation’s top programs wanted him in 2021.
I expect a big game from the new starter and he may even cause a discussion about the quarterback position when Blake Shapen returns to full health.
