College Football Rankings 2023: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 5

It looked like the game was over on Saturday night in the fourth quarter, but a furious comeback made things interesting. Oregon State fell just three points short and should see a decent drop probably down to No. 20 after the close loss. Not a horrible loss, but this is a game that Oregon State expected to win.

Joe Milton and Tennessee bounced back nicely from a road loss against Florida, beating UTSA by what felt like a million points on Saturday evening. Outside of a 14-point third quarter, UTSA was completely dominated and held scoreless while Tennessee scored at will. A nice home win for the Volunteers.

Miami just continues to get the job done. The Hurricanes went on the road and took care of a mediocre Temple team 41-7 on Saturday and it just never felt close as they were up 24-7 at the half and never looked back. Maybe Mario Cristobal has a title contender after all. Maybe we shouldn’t have doubted him. Maybe.

I’m buying all the Washington State stock there is right now and I’ve been stockpiling it since the Cougars upset Wisconsin a couple of weeks ago. Cam Ward is one of the most underrated players in college football and as long as he’s healthy, Washington State is going to keep winning. Saturday’s win over Oregon State was quite impressive.

Mike Elko and Duke just continue to get the job done. The Blue Devils went on the road and dominated UConn in Week 4, 41-7. Riley Leonard had another solid game and the stock for Elko continues to sky-rocket — take a gander at this coach, Michigan State. Duke is looking like a legit ACC title contender.
