Shilo Sanders has been a big part of the early success for the Colorado Buffaloes this season, but will he play against USC this week?

Deion Sanders son and star safety Shilo Sanders was injured in Colorado’s blowout loss to Oregon last week and was hospitalized this week with a kidney issue and did not practice all week.

Coach Prime gave updates on Sanders progress through the week, asking for prayers for his son.

“Praying for him. I don’t even know how he did this. I mean what’s going on with the kidney in Boulder? What’s going on with us right now?”, the Buffaloes head coach told reporters alluding to both his son and star cornerback Travis Hunter who is also suffering from a kidney injury.

Will the Buffaloes be without Shilo Sanders against USC this week?

There was some speculation early in the week as to whether or not Sanders would suit up for the big game against No. 8 USC, but it now appears that Sanders won’t be able to go.

Shilo Sanders did not practice this week and will likely have his spot in the starting lineup filled by Southern Utah transfer Rodrick Ward.

Sanders has amassed 26 tackles along with a forced fumble and an 80-yard interception return in the Buffs’ win over Colorado State.

The loss of Sanders really puts the Buffaloes in a bad place in their defensive secondary with their two top players — Sanders and Hunter — both out against a USC offense that is being led by Heisman-winner Caleb Williams.

The Trojans passing offense ranks No. 3 in the nation, boasting 377.2 passing yards per game. Reportedly there will be 30 scouts from 21 teams attending the game featuring two possible NFL Draft pick quarterbacks, Caleb Williams and Shedeur Sanders.

The Buffs and Trojans kickoff at 12: pm ET on FOX
