College Football Rankings 2023: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 8
It’s been a while since we’ve seen this familiar face in the AP Top 25 but the Tigers should get right back in thanks to a number of teams falling at the back-end of the rankings this weekend. Clemson should be right there at No. 25 with about half a season to prove itself.
Tulane played in one of the earlier games of the week, going into Memphis to face an upset-minded Tigers team. It looked like Tulane was in trouble at halftime, but the Green Wave were able to figure it out in the second half and pick up a nice win. They’ll get back into the rankings this week.
UCLA was hoping to prove that its win over Washington State last week wasn’t a fluke and it went in to Corvallis looking for a second straight upset. Well, it didn’t happen. The Bruins struggled a bit and a late comeback fell short. Chip Kelly’s team is still solid but just needs to clean up the mental mistakes.
The winner of this week’s Air Force vs. Wyoming game was likely going to get this spot in the new AP Top 25. The Cowboys were almost ranked a week ago and the Falcons weren’t too far behind. The Falcons picked up a huge conference win here thanks to a touchdown in the final minutes and they’ll be ranked for the first time this year.
Just one week after being knocked out of the rankings thanks to a home loss against LSU, Missouri will slide right back in thanks to a huge road win over a ranked Kentucky team. Not only did the Tigers win, but they stepped on Kentucky’s throat and pulled away late. Just an impressive win for Eli Drinkwitz and Co.
