College Football Rankings 2023: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 8
Just one week after picking up a massive victory over Notre Dame, the Cardinals stumbled against Pitt on the road. Everyone expected the Cardinals to roll in this one, but the Panthers were able to pull off the upset. Obviously Louisville is still a top 10 team, but it was on the verge of the top 10.
Poor Auburn didn’t stand a chance on Saturday. LSU played like a team possessed and poured it on, winning 48-18 over Auburn to pick up a second straight win. Brian Kelly’s team can either be completely dominant or a little too soft. There doesn’t seem to be an in-between. The talent is there, LSU just needs to put it all together.
Sorry, USC fans, even though the Trojans lost their first game of the season, they’re going to see probably the biggest drop of the week after getting stomped at Notre Dame by four touchdowns. The Trojans were already having a tough time garnering any respect but this probably ruins that for the remainder of the season.
Did Tennessee just put Jimbo Fisher squarely on the hot seat? That could be argued after Josh Heupel and the Volunteers took down Texas A&M in Week 7 and dropped the Aggies to 4-3 on the year and 2-2 in SEC play. The Volunteers, on the other hand, improved to 5-1 thanks to a huge win.
Duke came back after a bye week and looked dominant against NC State even without Riley Leonard. It’s good to see that the Blue Devils can still take care of business without their star player and that just goes to show how well-coached and well-balanced this team truly is.
