We are back with our college football predictions for Week 9 of the 2023 season, which features two top-25 matchups.

It’s just about time for another college football Saturday. It’s been a wild week in the sport that has been engulfed by the Michigan football sign-stealing scandal.

Whatever happens in that case, it will be good to have the focus back on the field this week, even though there is a shortage of marquee matchups for College Football Week 9.

There are just two top-25 games between Louisville and Duke, as well as Utah and Oregon. But there are some interesting matchups all the same between College Football Playoff contenders and teams good enough to entertain the idea of pulling an upset

Looking ahead to College Football Week 9, here are our predictions.

No. 6 Oklahoma (-9.5) at Kansas (Fox, 12 PM EST)

Big Noon Kickoff is in Lawrence this week and the Jayhawks will host the Oklahoma Sooners, who are fresh off a two-point escape against UCF last week.

Unfortunately, for the Jayhawks, Jalon Daniels will be out again this week, leaving Jason Bean as the starter once again. This isn’t new for the Jayhawks. Bean has played in every game this season. He also threw for 265 yards and four touchdowns last season against Oklahoma.

Dillon Gabriel has proven to be one of the best quarterbacks in college football. The Sooners have also found their groove a little on defense. Kansas will keep it close, but the Sooners will pull away in the second half and cover the spread in the process.

Oklahoma is +10 in turnover margin this season, which is second in all of college football. Gabriel has just one interception. Bean has just two, but he also threw two against the Sooners last season and my guess is that OU gets at least one on Saturday, plus the KU defense is ranked 95th in yards allowed, so Gabriel will have a big day.

Score: Oklahoma 38, Kansas 24
