Now, the good news. It’s never fun when a great player leaves your team for the NFL, especially with remaining eligibility, but it’s a great recruiting tool and a good problem to have.

Umanmielen has plenty of size for the NFL at 6-foot-5 255 pounds and after a 4.5 sack season in 2022, he already has 5.5 sacks and plenty of pressures. All his tools and athleticism have come together to turn potential into production at the college level.

NFL teams are desperate to add to their defensive lines, so Umanmielen will be a hot commodity this spring. He was mentioned by The Athletic’s Dane Brugler as one of the toughest players to leave off his midseason top 50 big board. Pro Football Focus’s NFL draft board has him at No. 53 overall.

He has been at Florida for four seasons but has remaining eligibility from the 2020 pandemic season.
