Winning recruiting battles is never easy, especially when the player at the center of the battle is a potential superstar that everyone notices from the moment they enter the recruiting picture. Ohio State constantly has special talents, but it looked like they may have missed out on one when Legend Bey committed to and signed with Tennessee.
Tennessee landed the initial commitment from Legend Bey, but Ohio State pulled off a flip before drama on National Signing Day ended with Bey signing with Tennessee. After a few days with rumors swirling, Josh Heupel and Tennessee released Bey from his Letter of Intent, allowing him to land at Ohio State, and it appears that Ryan Day should be very thankful.

On Wednesday, Jeremiah Smith spoke to Chase Brown of 11 Warriors and said that he believes Legend Bey will either become a Heisman Trophy finalist or even win the award.

Jeremiah Smith has only been in college football for two seasons, and you can argue that he's been the most talented player in the Country both seasons. For Jeremiah Smith to look at another player and see Heisman potential speaks volumes given how talented of a player he is.
Coming out of High School, Legend Bey was the 131st ranked player in the Country, the 3rd ranked athlete in the class, and the 18th ranked player out of Texas. Considering the fact that Bey played quarterback at the High School level, there was a question over what position he would play at the college level.
While Ohio State running backs coach Carlos Locklyn recruited Legend Bey, his decision to flip to Tennessee after Brian Hartline's departure made everyone wonder if he was looking to play receiver. Legend Bey has settled into a role at running back, which will make it hard for him to win the Heisman, at least this season with Bo Jackson still in the fold.
Brian Hartline may be gone, but his parting gift to Ohio State may end up being one of the greatest classes he’s ever recruited. Legend Bey looks to be the next Buckeyes superstar regardless of the position he plays. Brock Boyd arrived and instantly looked like he was clearly underrated as a recruit and could contribute as a true freshman. Add in the pair of 5-stars Jerquaden Guilford and Chris Henry Jr who looks like an alien, and the offensive group has incredible potential.
